Early end after strong starting phase for team mcchip-dkr
The ROWE 6-hour ADAC Ruhr-Pokal race heralds the end of the long NLS summer break on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. After the double header, another highlight of this year's Nürburgring endurance series. Lucas Lange and Sascha Lott competed for the Team mcchip-dkr in class V4 with the Energieanlagen Lange BMW 325i E90. The two rookies already used the test facilities on Friday to further improve the set-up of the BMW. A modified suspension strut housing, which made it possible to reduce the vehicle height, made it possible to find a good set-up with which both drivers feel comfortable on the track. In qualifying on Saturday morning, the team and driver were careful and decided to go out on the track with rain tires. At cool temperatures and some damp sections of the track, the aim was to minimize the risk and set the focus on the six-hour race.
From position 10 in the class, starting driver Lucas Lange tackled the race and worked his way forward lap by lap. With the fastest lap time of the entire rookie project of 10:09 minutes, he showed an impeccable performance. After 7 laps he handed over the BMW, which had meanwhile been in 5th position, to Sascha Lott, who had a double stint ahead of him. He built on the strong performance of his team-mate and was even able to move up to 4th place in the production car class V4. In addition, he drove his personal fastest lap, when he lapped the famous Nürburg in 10:09 minutes. After a scheduled refueling stop, the second part of the double stint was due, which unfortunately came to a sudden end due to a rough impact in the Wehrseifen track section and meant the end of the race for the BMW 325i E90 with the start number 717 after almost 4 hours of racing distance.
Unfortunately, the car is very badly damaged, so that the NLS season with the rookie project will be put on hold. The team will now concentrate completely on planning for the 2022 motorsport season.
