VLN 3 - debut succeeded
The GTronix360° Team mcchip-dkr.com started to the third round of the long-distance championship at the Nürburgring. After the technical kickbacks of the previous season, the announcement was clear: deliver!
The Renault R.S. 01 already worked great in the training and we were able to complete an extraordinary qualifying session with a time of 8:04.392. Only the Ferrari from the weekday team Monschau and the two Porsche 911 GT3 R from Manthey-Racing were able to position themselves in the starting position before our R.S. 01. To the race, the R.S. 01 started with 30 kg extra weight, due to Balance of Performance. But already in the 1st stint Heiko Hammel could put the Renault in front of the third placed Porsche of Manthey-Racing and gained important time. At 13:50 o`clock our R.S. 01 with driver Di Martino got a stop-and-go penalty, which meant a time loss of 90 seconds. This punishment was still bearable.
At 16:21 o`clock the R.S. 01 crossed the finish line on position 3. The spectators of the livestream had great joy, while the team already landed on the ground of hard facts. Unfortunately, this placement was non-existent by a subsequent time penalty of 185 seconds.
With this second time penalty our Renault R.S. 01 landed on a good but not quite satisfactory seventh rank!
